Register your company with the Federal Board of Revenue (FBR)
First of all, Apply for a National Tax Number (NTN) and Sales Tax Registration Number (STRN) at the nearby Regional Tax Office (RTO) of FBR. You can also apply online through the FBR website.
Documents required to apply for NTN are:
- NTN form.
- Registration Proof.
- Memorandum, and Articles & of Association.
- Bank account number.
- Copies of National Identity Cards of companies’ Directors.

Commercial exporters do not need to register for STRN. However, if you pay sales tax on goods from the local market, it would be beneficial to register with the sales tax department. This allows you to claim input tax deductions on your purchases. Once registered with the sales tax department, you are required to file monthly sales tax returns, regardless of whether you have been involved in any sales tax activity or not.

For the Online registration process:

- Check the availability of the name on the SECP website. Upon availability, create an account and reserve the name.
- Check it from the SECP website’s prohibited words list and Avoid using prohibited names for your company.
- You will need a valid CNIC in case of a Pakistani National and a valid passport if you are a foreigner.
- If you want immediate registration, select ‘fast track registration services’ (FTRS) for same-day registration.
- Complete the online form and submit your user registration.
- You will get Validated security codes received via SMS or email to generate a PIN.
- You have the option to pay the registration fee online using your credit or debit card, or through a challan at any selected branch, such as MCB or UBL.
- You will receive a confirmation email from SECP within a day.

Certification of Incorporation and Company Seal.
- The SECP will evaluate and validate all the submitted documents. Subsequently, the National Institutional Facilitation Center (NIFC) – SECP will grant a digital signature or company seal.
- All company directors’ signatures are required to obtain this company seal. You will receive a certificate of incorporation from the SECP if all your documents are valid. This certificate will be issued to you either in physical form or electronically, allowing you to commence your business.
