Self-care is not something to be selfish, Me-self or opportunistic rather self-care is to love and care for yourself enough that you can do well, behave well, and live well to the best of your ability. It makes you able to you can help and care for others around you.
Self-care is defined by many researchers as taking a health-oriented approach. The World Health Organization defines self-care as: “the ability of individuals, families, and communities to promote health, prevent disease, maintain health, and cope with illness and disability with or without the support of a health worker”.
Just open your G-mail as you don’t read every mail in your inbox, spam, or outbox, same as do not stick with every problem to destroy your mental health.
1. Organize your SLEEP 😴
WHO https://www.who.int/ recommends that most adults should get about seven to nine hours of sleep every night. Take a nap during the day, keep it short (20-30 minutes) and avoid napping too close to bedtime. During sleep, our body carries out various repairing, wear and tear and maintaining phenomena that boost up many functions of the body. Consequently, a healthy night’s sleep, or improper sleep, can impact the body both emotionally and physically.
2. Follow your HEART to follow Self-Care
When it comes to self-care, go with your gut and allow your inner voice to lead you to interests and approaches that enhance your well-being. If you are attracted to peaceful thought, cherish your alone time and give priority to the hobbies that make you happy. Let your heart guide you when it comes to relaxing, whether that means engaging in a favourite pastime, spending time in nature, or just taking a moment to yourself.
Recognise your needs, pay attention to your feelings, and practise self-love. Following your heart allows you to create a path that is in line with who you truly are, which promotes a greater sense of balance and fulfilment in your life. Taking care of your emotional health is an essential form of self-care.
3. Build Social Connections🤝
Developing social networks is essential to self-care, and studies show that having supportive social relationships has a significant positive influence on one’s general state of well-being. Strong social bonds are associated with reduced stress, greater happiness, and even better physical health, according to studies. In her study on social interactions and mortality risk, psychologist Julianne Holt-Lunstad discovered that those with strong social links are 50% more likely to live longer than people with lower ties.
4. Create Healthy Limits
Setting healthy limits is crucial for self-care, allowing individuals to prioritize their well-being and focus on activities that rejuvenate their mind, body, and spirit. This approach helps prevent burnout, fosters a balanced lifestyle, and preserves energy for personal growth and happiness. This includes recognizing one’s unique capabilities, learning to respectfully say no when essential, and realizing that setting limits is an act of self-respect. Accepting the principle of “Create Healthy Limits” helps you to focus on what is genuinely important for yourself.
5. Spend a couple of minutes to OBSERVE THE WORLD AROUND YOU!
Reconnect with the present moment to alleviate the burden of racing thoughts. Take a moment to ground yourself by following the steps outlined by the World Health Organization or by engaging in three deliberate deep breaths.

- What can I smell?
- What does it feel like to touch my knees or something else I can reach? How does it feel underneath my fingers?
